Last night's home rivalry game signified our last HLHS Marching Band performance of the season. 💚🖤🤍
This awesome crew of performers has lifted our school spirit in every way this year. From the opening day, "Welcome Back Assembly," to Homecoming festivities, hall marches, and last nights beautiful set, this group has transitioned our music department to the next phase!!! And we could not be more proud!!!
A special recognition to our lone Senior, Drum Major, Trevin Nagel, as he led the band in last night's final performance!

Ms. VanDuinen's 11th graders are studying Islam's Golden Age by looking at artwork examples from the period. Pile poems are descriptive words of what students see in the art. Each student adds their three words with their group mates and then composes a poem from the pile of the group's descriptive words. This is visual literacy strategy has been used in work done with the Eli Broad Museum of Art at MSU.
Houghton Lake Dental Associates is helping our students with their #BobcatPride by giving away two electric tooth brushes to our students! Students were chosen via random drawing, and our September winners were Olivia King (7th) and Josh Stead (9th).

The 7th and 8th grade boys basketball team will be selling $25 Hungry Howie's and Culver’s cards.
Our program makes $12.50 from each card and are using the funds to help purchase new uniforms to benefit both our MS Boys and Girls programs, and we will also be pursuing a team bonding trip to watch a NCAA Men’s Basketball game this year.

Students who enjoy acting and public speaking have an opportunity to compete with those skills by joining the Forensics Team.

The Houghton Lake JV Volleyball team traveled to Oscoda today for an all-day tournament — and they made a statement! The Bobcats battled their way to first place in their bracket, then powered into tournament play. They absolutely crushed the competition and played like true champions, showing heart, hustle, and teamwork every step of the way.
After grinding through five straight sets, the Bobcats faced Lake City in the finals. The Bobcats gave it everything they had and proudly brought home 2nd place overall.
These athletes showed exactly what it means to be a team, and each one of them stepped up as a leader today.

HLCS staff has been participating in Process Communication Model training the past few days as we prepare to welcome back our students next week!
Used by many Fortune 500 companies, PCM aims to improve communication by recognizing our social strengths and needs along with those of others. We're excited to take this reflection and practice to the classroom this school year.

Braving the heat, the HLHS Marching Band and Flag Corps have dedicated this week of their summer to preparing for fall marching season!!!
Led by Mr. Kuchek, a contingent of over 30 Bobcat performers have been drilling and performing.
We can't wait to see them take the field at halftime of our first home varsity contest on September 5th!!!
