Bobcat Nation!!!
We are excited to announce that our interactive Hall of Fame displays have arrived. While we were slated to unveil these this summer, our excitement got the best of us and we mounted the first board today. It has been exciting watching our students peruse the initial content, but we are SEEKING YOUR HELP!
Between now and next school year, our team will be working feverishly to populate the many past accomplishments of HLCS. This is no small undertaking for a district with nearly 100 years of achievement, and we are grateful for you patience and support as this content is generated.
What we are asking is that you help us fill in some content. Periodically, we will be canvassing the community for historical information...and the first prompt begins now.
If you, or anyone you know has photos, programs, images, or information related to the following prompts, please email these items to goodwinj@hlcsk12.net.
1.) Drama Department- any plays and musicals performed at HLHS from 1979-present.
2) Valedictorians and Salutatorians before 1972.
3.) Band and Choir Performances and rosters.
Our next major content update will populate May 20th, but until then, we are excitedly perusing our new visual of ##BobcatPride

HLHS would like to wish a Happy Administrative Professional's day to the three ladies who make our school run. Whether they are managing compliance paperwork, answering phones, being the face of the building for our students and parents, or keeping Mr. Watson behaved, our building could not function without these three amazing humans. So, if you see Mrs. Bovay, Mrs. Chludil, or Mrs. Portz today, please let them know they are appreciated!!! #BobcatPride

With the incredible help of Ms. Rolando in the library, Mrs. Hissong's ELA students are doing a book tasting! They visit each genre of literature for only a few minutes while they fill out a questionnaire to determine the genre best suited for their interests!
Ms. Rolando pulled texts popular among young adults from our shelves and students were incredibly interested in the idea of exploring different genres 🤯

Houghton Lake Community Schools would like to give a huge thank you to Better Yards Landscaping and Bella Concrete Construction for their work on Bobcat Stadium's track facility. Bella Concrete donated their time and energy to pour a new pole vault pad, and long-jump border, in addition to installing the pole vault pads and standards. Better Yards Landscaping is on site today filling the long-jump with new sand and restoring it, while also cleaning up all of the landscaping that was impacted during the concrete work.
Both businesses sent large crews to give their time and energy, and HLCS could not be more grateful and appreciative of their commitment to our students, district, and community. It takes a village, and ours is continually special. We are looking forward to watching our student-athletes benefit from these amazing, community-provided upgrades.

HLCS is excited to see community partnerships and community support in action as improvements are made to our track. A huge shoutout to Bella Concrete, who kicked off the renovations on our high jump, long jump, and pole vault areas today. We are grateful and appreciative of their support and outstanding work. Keep your eyes peeled to the HL Sports Boosters page in the coming weeks as they share some track additions that they contributed to this spring.
