MS Track had their end of year banquet last night...and what a night it was!!!
Pizza and cookies were eaten, great conversation and reflection on the season was had, and so many awards were given out.
This year saw 9 MS records broken, 7 first place event finishes in the conference, countless PR's, and a lot of hard work and dedication was shown by the entire team!
A huge shoutout to Coach Livingstone, Coach Grencz, Coach Abel, and all of our MS Track athletes!!!

Community partnerships bring us #BobcatPride!
STEM was pleased to make 8th grade graduation banners for the 2025 OLLS graduating class. These great keepsakes are timeless mementos, and we are excited to see some future Bobcats in the group.
This is just one of the many services HLHS Stem offers our community. Check out their website on the HLCS website or directly at https://sites.google.com/hlcsk12.net/hlhsstem/home

Three weeks ago, our 7th graders were learning about the volcanoes in the Ring of Fire, and their curiosity erupted! 🌋 A few asked if they could make volcano models, and their enthusiasm sparked a hands-on opportunity to keep them engaged and excited about science through the end of the year.
We explored volcanoes from around the world, learned how they've impacted civilizations throughout history, and some students even used knowledge from earlier in the year to create their own eruptions using chemical reactions! 🔥🌎 #BobcatPride #ScienceRocks

STEM is live!!!
Mr. Bunn and his students created a Google site to continue spreading the word about all of the great things our STEM class is doing. It has a readily available chatbot to answer questions, provides insight and information on how to order from STEM, and shows the student progress taking place in this area. Check the site out at...

What an amazing day for our future Bobcats! 🐾 Our 6th graders visited Houghton Lake Junior/Senior High School for our Cubs to Cats event and got an inside look at what makes our school so special!
They toured the campus with one of our incredible Student Senators, met some of our talented teachers, and learned all about the amazing programs we offer.
It was a perfect display of Bobcat Pride 🖤💚🖤 and we can't wait to welcome these future Bobcats into our community!!!

HLHS was blessed, through the advocacy of graduating senior Sam Beerens and a partnership with Jojean Thompson and Up North Prevention, to have Anthony Grupido on campus yesterday. Using his skills as a magician, Anthony entertained the students while discussing suicide prevention and awareness, health relationships, and positive thinking. It was a truly awesome performance!
💚🖤🤍

Ms. DeVos's art class finished the year out with a proud display of their work. Combining with our performing arts instructors, these classes set up showcases throughout the year to allow the community to peruse their art. The progress and growth have been wonderful, and we are excited to see continued evolution as we add ceramic art to the fold in 2025-2026.

Tonight we were blessed to have our Summa Cum Laude students recognize their Honored Educator. It was a night full of amazing stories, humor, impact, and the importance of relationships. We will share a longer editorial on the event on the district webpage tomorrow, but we didn't want to miss the opportunity to share our celebration!!!

We are so proud of our student leadership as they have made it their goal to welcome our new students to the building and show them what #BobcatPride means!!!

HLHS was proud to recognize the 2025 inductees into the National Honor Society and National Junior Honor Society tonight. Students in grades 7-10 who were approved for induction were recognized, and our 9-12 grade students previously inducted also received their recognition.
These students truly embody the core values of this esteemed group, and it was a privilege to celebrate with them!

Our 7th grade Science of Yuck class dove into the world of osmosis with the classic naked egg experiment! Students dissolved the eggshells to reveal the membrane underneath, then explored how water moves in and out of cells through osmosis. 🌊🔬
It was messy, slimy, and totally awesome — science at its yuckiest and best! 🧠💥
Way to get hands-on, curious, and just a little gross, Bobcats! 💚🤍

Our 8th grade Science of Science Fiction class has been exploring how future civilizations might grow food to replenish resources. After learning about planting, sustainability, and space-inspired agriculture, students took their knowledge outside to get their hands dirty — planting sunflowers right here on campus! 🌻🌞
Proud of our young scientists for thinking big and growing even bigger. Go Bobcats! 💚🤍

Our 7th grade Science of Science Fiction students took on an End of the World survival challenge! Working in small groups, they were given limited resources — 5 cans of beans, 2 boxes of crackers, a gallon of water, and a few surprise items. 💧🥫
Teams had the chance to negotiate and trade with others, then use their final supplies to create a 7-day survival menu. A perfect mix of critical thinking, collaboration, and creativity! 💡🔥
Way to problem-solve, Bobcats! 💚🤍
