Houghton Lake High School basketball tryouts kicked off today with an incredible turnout! So many hardworking boys showed up ready to give it their all and earn their spots on the team. KCC Hosts Senior Summit 2026!

Last night's home rivalry game signified our last HLHS Marching Band performance of the season. 💚🖤🤍 This awesome crew of performers has lifted our school spirit in every way this year. From the opening day, "Welcome Back Assembly," to Homecoming festivities, hall marches, and last nights beautiful set, this group has transitioned our music department to the next phase!!! And we could not be more proud!!! A special recognition to our lone Senior, Drum Major, Trevin Nagel, as he led the band in last night's final performance! Thank you to Mr. K, our Band Boosters, and the many individuals supporting HLHS Fine Arts. You truly are unsung heroes in our school and you make us #BobcatProud💚🖤🤍 Bobcat fans, you can catch our next wave of musical performances with concerts, pep band, MSBOA, and spring musical support all slated for this impressive cohort of Bobcats!!! 💚🖤🤍🪈🎻🎼🤍🖤💚

Ms. VanDuinen's 11th graders are studying Islam's Golden Age by looking at artwork examples from the period. Pile poems are descriptive words of what students see in the art. Each student adds their three words with their group mates and then composes a poem from the pile of the group's descriptive words. This is visual literacy strategy has been used in work done with the Eli Broad Museum of Art at MSU.

Houghton Lake Dental Associates is helping our students with their #BobcatPride by giving away two electric tooth brushes to our students! Students were chosen via random drawing, and our September winners were Olivia King (7th) and Josh Stead (9th). We continue to be so appreciative of #BobcatNation and our community partnerships such as Houghton Lake Dental Associates!!! 💚🖤🤍

The 7th and 8th grade boys basketball team will be selling $25 Hungry Howie's and Culver’s cards.

Our program makes $12.50 from each card and are using the funds to help purchase new uniforms to benefit both our MS Boys and Girls programs, and we will also be pursuing a team bonding trip to watch a NCAA Men’s Basketball game this year.

With the proceeds of this event going to these two amazing organizations who consistently show up to support our students, we wanted to do our part to spread the word on this awesome event!!!
