DM Burr

While students and staff enjoy the summer months, the DM Burr custodial team is hard at work preparing Houghton Lake Community Schools for the start of the 2026–2027 school year.

Throughout the summer, the custodial team tackles the important work of cleaning, organizing, and refreshing Houghton Lake Jr./Sr. High School, Houghton Lake Community Education, and Collins Elementary. Classrooms, hallways, offices, cafeterias, gyms, restrooms, and other shared spaces receive attention as the team works to make sure our buildings are clean, safe, and ready to welcome students and staff back for another great year.

Summer custodial work goes far beyond everyday cleaning. Furniture is moved, floors are deep-cleaned and refinished, carpets are cleaned, classrooms are prepared, and countless details are addressed throughout each building. Much of this work happens behind the scenes, but it plays an important role in creating welcoming learning environments for our students.

HLCS would like to recognize and thank the members of our DM Burr custodial team for their hard work this summer:

Mary Smith • Sandra Greiner • Reynaldo Esquival • Robert Chatfield • Stephanie Chatfield • Steven Edwards • Desire Foutch • Mike Miers • Carl Miers • Max Miers • Jeff Raby • April Henfling

Their dedication and teamwork help ensure that when our students walk through the doors for the first day of school, our buildings are ready for them.

Thank you to our entire DM Burr custodial team for everything you do for Houghton Lake Community Schools. Your hard work makes a difference every day!
